Description

A recent study* into TV viewing habits in the UK has found that a massive growth with over 76% of viewers surfing the web on their laptops, or using their mobile phones, tablets whilst consuming their favourite TV shows.

According to the report, 43 per cent of British adults have commented or discussed it with other people not in the same room as them. Women are more likely to be doing so – one in two (50 per cent) compared to 37 per cent of men, while 18-34 year olds are the most prolific commentators (68 per cent).**

Social TV hit the mainstream with social media in a big way, launching numerous products from Facebook brand pages and Twitter accounts to second screen experiences on laptops, tablets and mobile devices which drives more communication and connects with the viewers/consumers.
Networks have started to experiment in different creative ways to bring brands into the social mix. This trend will grow through 2012 for brands, bringing a socially blended experience.
