Our 1-day training seminar will show you how to promote your school on social media and how to develop a strategy will attract new pupils as well as engage with the existing student body and parents.

This hands-on workshop will show you how to set up and use the main social media tools, focusing on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. We will demonstrate real-life case studies of how social media can be used to attract new pupils and enhance the reputation of your school.

Who should attend?
This course is intended for both beginners and intermediate users of social media. If you are unsure how to use it to promote your school, then this course is for you.

The workshop includes: How to use Facebook to promote your school

  • Setting up your Facebook page. How to use plugins to customise the appearance of your Facebook page.
  • How to get fans for your Facebook page
  • “Like” other Pages that complement your page – Some will promote you in return.
  • Updating content: How to add tips, news, questions and answers, videos from external sources, and interesting links.
  • How to add image galleries and videos to promote your school and increase visitor engagement
  • How to encourage interaction from fans by
    - Engaging with interested parties.
    - Get written or even video testimonials of satisfied parents / former pupils.
    - Setting up discussions such as “Ask the head” slot where people can ask you questions.
  • Connecting Facebook with Twitter

Building a LinkedIn presence that will attract new clients

  • How to create a LinkedIn profile that sells you. How to integrate add-ons such as skills, publications, blog posts, videos etc.
  • Increasing the number of connections you have
  • Managing your LinkedIn contacts, exporting them to your database
  • Requesting testimonials from colleagues you have worked with
  • Posting updates and sharing articles / links with existing contacts
  • Finding LinkedIn groups to enable you to connect to other teaching professionals
  • How to use the LinkedIn contacts you know to get introduced to the contacts you'd like to work with or employ
  • How to use LinkedIn network to get in front of potential donors
  • How to use LinkedIn Events and Polls to engage with your audience
  • Introduction to LinkedIn Premium’s features
  • LinkedIn on your mobile
  • Integrating LinkedIn with your long term marketing strategy

How to use Twitter to enhance the reputation of your school

  • How to set up and optimise your Twitter profile. How to promote your school's USP
  • Finding and following Twitter users who have the potential to promote your school or work with your school
  • How to manage your follows/followers and how to use Lists
  • Be alerted whenever people tweet about something related to what you do
  • How to track keywords and hashtags that are relevant to you
  • Writing tweets that will attract attention
  • Engaging with other Twitter users. How to a convert Twitter followers into your advocates
  • Sharing articles, tips and ideas. Ensure these are also broadcast on your Twitter profile
  • Seeing what people are saying about you and how to reply
  • Scheduling Tweets when you are away
  • Using Twitter as a reputation management tool
  • How to set up Twitter on your mobile phone so you can tweet on the move and be responsive.
  • Introduction to external twitter management tools such as Hootsuite, Twitlonger, Friend or Follow, SocialOomph
  • Integrating Twitter with your long term marketing strategy

How to write a blog that promotes your school

  • How to use your blog to promote your school's USP
  • Use writing techniques that will help you post regularly without taking up a lot of your time
  • Use blogging tools such as Wordpress
  • Organise blog posts into categories. Tagging posts
  • Using tools such as Google Reader / Google RSS to help you find topical content
  • Using social media monitoring tools such as Hootsuite to find out what topics people are talking about.
  • Scheduling blogs posts for when you are away
  • Sharing blog posts on social media
  • Using Google Analytics to monitor the popularity of your blog posts

External tools to use in conjunction with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter: Google News and Google Reader, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr and Pinterest

The training will include case studies demonstrating effective ways of promoting your school via social media
