Hello, Social Media Week London Is Go

Yes, hello, this is London calling. Excuse the Eurovision-style pun…in a foretaste of our preparations for the 2012 Olympics, things have started out slowly but are rapidly swinging into gear.

It’s going to be an exciting, busy, thought-provoking week’s worth of events, taking place 1st-5th Feb 2010, which will bring together the leading thinkers, organisers, movers and shakers across the social media spectrum for events including from panel sessions to networking events, breakfast briefings and more.

Building on the success of the first Social Media Week, which took place in New York last year, this time around there’s six cities across three continents taking part. There’s plenty of opportunities to get involved, whether organising an event, helping out on the day, spreading the word, providing a venue, sponsoring Social Media Week, but above all, we hope you’ll come along to the events themselves.

Chinwag, the lead organiser for Social Media Week London, is working with a group of fab advisors and Toby Daniels and the global team in New York. We’re pulling together what we hope will be a engaging and varied week of exploration into social media’s impact across business, media, the arts, politics, society and no doubt, other things we haven’t thought of yet.

We’ll be posting more news on this blog as well as through through Twitter and Facebook. Keep your eyes peeled and if you’d like to get involved, smwatchinwag [dot] com (do get in touch).
