Subject: Re: FLASH: Database solution

I'm new to databases, and I'm gonna build a web site that
features literary quotations. It's a little personal pet project of mine.
The entire site will be Flash on the front-end, but am looking
for the perfect (and most inexpensive) solution for the backend.

I'm on a PC. W98.

It's really simple, this is what I need:

I wanna put all my quotes in different categories; "Love", "Friendship", "Work",
"Family", etc...

1. A user would have the option of either searching for a quote by "keyword" (a
word in the quote) that would search ALL categories.

2. Or, browse an entire category that would maybe display a list of quotes, for
instance "quotes 1-5 of 63 are now displayed." Or, quotes could be shown one by
one, if that's easier; "quote 1 of 63 is now shown."
With a button saying "jump to the next 5 quotes", or "jump to the next quote."

3. Same thing as #2 above but it should search ALL categories.

4. And then, every day I wanna display a "Quote of the Day." This will be done
automatically, and this ONE quote should be pulled randomly from ALL categories.
Once displayed it will not show up again until all other quotes have been
displayed.

5. Last but not least; I need to be able to update this site with new quotes
daily if needed.

Any suggestions?
Any books?
Web sites?

/ Max
