Marc,

That's actually very easy, do it all the time. Just make text fields for each of your variables and put them on the stage. In the properties panel for each text field, just fill in the "Variable" field with the variable name...just make sure they're targeted properly (or just put
them on the same timeline as your local variables). Then whenever the vars have values or change values, the fields will update. And if you put text in there from the start, the var will contain that value.

One trick is to make a whole testing layer with all your variables displayed (and labeled) so it's easy to make sure all's working well, and then when you publish, just turn that into a guide layer so it's not exported.
