FLASH: associate text with movie clip

Hi -


Does anybody know how to make text appear with a MC.  I first create a 

button and attach the following code to it:


on (press) {

	tab = new Array("Hello!" , "Holla");

	text1 = tab[random (2)];


}

on (release) {


setProperty ( bt1, _x, 9000 );

}


When I try it as a button, the text random was working but not the 

setProperty.  After I convert the button to a Movie Clip, the text is not 

working....  Anywone have a idea?
