Actually, If you take a look at my site http://www.smartdna.com. The
splash movie there is
also an animated gif exported that is 60K and since animated gif stream
in an play the 66K isn't
so bad. Could be better, but its bad. And that file was pretty huge
before compiled.

As for .avi and screen savers. They are normally something that you
store on a local hard drive
or have someone download. So the download size for an .avi can be
bigger. Sure it's not
flash, but you need to take into account that .avis are used on a
differently over the web.

Download once, play locally.

Just my .02, unless you have a specific application for a "screen saver"
other than the traditional sense of the word.
