Subject: FLASH: Yikes!! You ripped the frog apart?????
From: Sienna Design
Date: Fri, 19 Feb 1999 15:26:11 GMT

Poor frogs, guess that's why I never passed Biology... it's like shooting
Bambi :) Just kidding.

Anyways, I may be wrong about this, I'm sure if I am someone will correct
me, but I was told many times if you use someone else's work and change a
few things that was legal (not sure if its moral). A true designer will
come up with their own work (my opinion) but while they're learning it's
great to look at how others have done the work so long as they don't use
the work without permission.

I gave up on trying to defend the original owners of a design or a program.
I called Macromedia and told them how Flash 3 was being stolen, who was
stealing it, and exactly how they were doing it and that they were teaching
others to do the same. I was greeted with a rude woman who got mad at me
for calling with the info ( she worked in security department and it was
her job to report such incidents) so my last words to her were something
like.. if Macromedia doesn't care that their stuff is stolen, why should I?
I hung up.

Just to let you know Nathan, people are blantantly foolish enough to rip
things off in front of their peers. The jails are full of people who stole
from their families, friends, co-workers, employers.. etc.

Such is life, the crooks have more rights than the victims, the courts, and
the police.

You won't find anything of mine in the ftp site that I don't want "stolen"
I think if someone is foolish enough to post their work thinking everyone
here is not "blantanly foolish" than shame on you if you lose your work.

I would hope NOONE here is going to go pull swf files from other people's
sites and put them in the FTP site without their permission just so we can
"dissect" it to learn.

I can appreciate the FTP site so long as as the people in this discussion
group are sending up THEIR work, but if you are pulling it from other
people's sites who aren't a part of this group, or who have no knowledge of
their work being put in the FTP site, than shame on you for doing that to
them. As a fellow designer, I appreciate the work of others and won't
violate their privacy for the sake of this group.

I'm not sure about the FTP site to be honest with you. I hope it's not
going to open up some legal problems down the road. It would if I found my
work in it without permission. :)
