I have had this happen to me, actually, all the time. What I do to work around it, and I don't like doing it, is in Photoshop, after I have the picture ready (alpha channel set, picture cropped, etc), just before I save it, I go to the levels and pull the mids over to the black side (lightning mids) to a point that the picture looks washed out (quite light). Then save as a png. It takes a little trial and error to find the right setting, but it does work. Hopefully this will be a fix in the future, as I do a lot of work with photography, and I like to have a true representation of a picture, not a guess.
