Subject: FLASH: Main Shockwave download page provides buggy Flash install on IE5.

Hi; just wanted to clear up some confusion (perhaps on my part)

Last week Brad Bechtel of Macromedia Flash QA announced on this list that
Flash Player 4.0r28 for Windows had been officially released, in order to
address database issues on both platforms and sound issues in the Windows
version of the player. In that message he informed the Flasher list that
this release would be available at the main Shockwave download page (
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/ ). However, yesterday I went
to that page with my Windows 98 machine (using I.E. 5), and pressing the
Autoinstall button installed Flash Player 4.0r25, which still contains the
database connectivity ampersand bug. Reading the fine print on this page
states that 4.0r25 (created in December, '99) is indeed the version
installed.

My question would be, then, is there a reason why 4.0r25 is still being
served to the public in the main Shockwave download, though the bugs in that
version of the Flash Player have been fixed by a more recent release?

Thanks,
