I noticed the same problem. I'm running on an Athlon k6 (which probably
has nothing to do with it.)

I had imported about 20 sounds and ... boom! ... Flash wouldn't let me
import any more.

I tried closing Flash and restarting it again, but it didn't work.

I finally solved the problem by deleting some symbols (yes, symbols) from
the library (I had imported a few animated gifs, which were converted
into about 20 symbols each. These I deleted.)

As yet, I haven't quite figured out what the problem is... does anyone
know whether there can be *too many* things in the library at once? Is
there a maximum size or something?

Sorry I couldn't help... I just wanted to let you know that I had the
same problem and that it appears to occur exactly as you said.
