Too many loose variables, huh John? ;-) ...

Flaky Mac OS 9
Flaky Mac Flash 4.0a
Flaky Wacom drivers
Flaky third-party extensions

So here's the best way to narrow down the likely suspects:

(1) With OS 9 and 4.0a, try as many Wacom drivers from 4.40 as you
can find/download.

(1a) Repeat with base extensions plus Wacom.

(1b) Repeat with extensions off (but Wacom on).

(2) Repeat (1 (all)) with Flash 4 (sans ".0a"). Reinstall if
necessary to do this; it may be critical info.

(2.5) Bite the bullet and call Wacom.

If they don't resolve your problem, proceed with ...

(3) Reinstall OS 9 Before installing, archive your current Extensions
and Control Panels folders. Do a "clean" install (overwrites the
extensions (including erasing third-party extensions).

Go to Apple's site and DL and install all upgrades currently
available (and relevant).

(4) Repeat (1 (all)) and (2 (all)) with fresh OS 9.

(4.5) Bite the bullet and call Wacom again. Tell them that you have
installed a clean system OS 9 and still have problems.

If they still don't resolve your problem, proceed with ...

(5) Install OS 8.6 and repeat steps (1) and (2).

(6.5) Bite the bullet and call Wacom once again. Tell them that you
have now installed a clean system OS 8.6 and still have problems.

Best I can think of! Hope you'll let us know how it goes.

HTH,

Ken Sherwood

"In particular, I was musing about where Flash would be in a couple
of years. Right now, it's been delivered to a vast number of
clients, either by being packaged with a browser, or via a download.
Developers are now developing Flash content that is small yet
effective visually. It seems to offer lots of design possibilities.
Will it still be here in 3 years? Adobe, who has deeper pockets than
Macromedia, has announced a Flash competitor. Will Macromedia
survive? Will their vision and focus, so far unsullied [*sic*],
survive?"
