FLASH: Naming a MC instance that is embedded

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to name an instance of a MC that is imbedded in another symbol. Say you've got a MC in the Over frame of a button. You drop that button on stage. Then how do you then get at the movie clip to name it? All my attempts at double clicking just bring up the instance properties of the button.
