I am under the impression that Cooledit 2000 supports MP3 OUTPUT but not

actual editing of an MP3 file itself... could be wrong.

Cooledit 2000 supports MP3 editing :)  Sound Forge 4.5 I beleive also does,

but it aimed at a more professional user.
