Make sure you have the arrow symbol, and highlight the text (don't double
click or you'll go into text mode)
When the text has a square around it, hit the copy button. Then click INSERT,
New SYMBOL (or F8 key on PC's)
This will bring up the symbol dialog box, give it a name and hit enter. you
will now be at a blank stage. Hit the PASTE button and your text will now be
a symbol.
Go back to your main timeline and delete the text, and replace it with your
symbol.
Your supposed to be able to just highlight an object and hit CTRL - F8 (PC)
and it will convert it to a symbol, but I haven't had this work for me on the
PC, I always have to copy and paste into a new symbol.
Darren.
