FLASH: passing variables

Hi all,

I have been trying to pass variables from withing an html document

to an embeded flashmovie, using the above method or to be more exact,


<EMBED SRC="filename.swf?mode=0&status=0".....


It works very well in Netscape - 

can anyone tell me why this doesn't work in IE (on a mac) haven't tried

this on a pc,....

Is there anothe method to pass variables to a flashmovie..?
