Oh, one more tidbit on this.

Try looking for sound effects CDs and records. They're sort of "audio
clip-art" that you can sample and use without credit or payment.

DJ record stores also sell "breakbeat" and instrumental 12" records and CDs
meant for sampling and DJ'ing. Usually copyright-free.
