Not 100% sure, but I would bet it's all an immense amount of Adobe illustrator work. there appears to be too many perspective views and angles that are off. A 3d program would be very precise and accurate with those angles, perspectives, depths etc.. ( and all those other words I forgot from my perspective drawing class in college) Also the gradient shading seems to be just like Illustrators gradient shading tools. Although 3D programs can use Cell shading to create that look. I would still bet money on lots of good Adobe Illustrator work.

Subject: [flasher] how was this 3d map made?

Hi all. I got a very cool-looking (except for all the ugly ads) map in
the mail the other day and wondered if anyone can clue me on how it
might have been made. I scanned in a piece and stuck it up at
http://i-technica.com/streetmap.html . Aerial photos plus 3d software,
I'd guess, but what 3d software? It looks like a lifetime of work to me
(!) but it would be so great to do something like this for a map project
I'm currently working on...

Thanks,
Helen
