Chuck,

You are quite right on that. The globe comes from a larger set of
elements and was used in a CD based geography quiz. That's why is
rotates that way, it belonged under a test group and that particular one
was to check what was wrong with the globe, when I uploaded it per
request some time ago I just let it be.
Another error in the globe is that it's missing some important land
masses ;)
