Hi again, John (et al),

Well, I sent the post to which you are likely responding to you directly
and tried getting this to be a one-on-one off-list discussion, but if you
insist...

If indeed my 'common sense' (interesting delimiter, that!) is flawed, I
guess I am about to embark on a learning experience here, because if the
post above is in fact substansively correct, and not subject to
jurisdictional differences, I can only assume that you have something other
than your memory to substantiate your statements... and I look forward to
studying those resources.

Bear in mind in any response you (or others) may decide to formulate that
we are talking about email sent to and received from a publicly available

if'), or if I were indeed to d/l all the archived material currently
available and create a searchable database, what could you _in fact_ do
about it? I am not at all certain that you would have any recourse
whatsoever. This, please understand, is a 'devil's advocate' position I am
taking... not something I am actually considering (what, after all, would
be the point?).

However, you started the discussion regarding ownership and my flawed
common sense, so ...
