Brent,
The problem is that MSIE doesn't recognize the Flash files as a valid format when accessed from the hard drive.
You can add the MIME type in your preferences to get it to work properly. Here are the steps for MSIE 3 and 4.
1. Choose Edit > Preferences.
2. Under Receiving Files, choose File Helpers.
3. Click on the Add button to add the following information:
Representation:
Description: Shockwave Flash
Extension: .swf
MIME type: application/x-shockwave-flash
File Type:
Application: Flash (browse to where your local copy of Flash is located)
File Type: SWFL
File Creator: MFL2
Handling:
How to handle: View with Plug-in
Application: Shockwave Flash NP-PPC or Shockwave Flash NP-68K (browse to the appropriate plugin for your machine)
Click on OK.
Repeat these steps with .SPL instead of .SWF if you want to view older FutureSplash files as well.
