Hi all,
Hello,

Thanks Marc for answering my question.
Here is another I could use some help with.

I have set marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" topmargin="0" leftmargin="0" in
my Body.
I have aftershocked my movie as 100% of window with exact fit.

I am still getting a border on the bottom and on the right side.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong.

Thank You very much,
Larry

Actually, you don't need one for each star, of course. My example at
http://www.dartfrogmedia.com/stars uses 10 different clips, which is still
probably overkill.

Hi all,

I'm making a demo for our web site, it will be for a CD but right now =
it's just for a presentation piece for first draft.
I am putting the flash intro and an avi web site walk-through recording =
to music. I found a kind of funky midi file that works pretty well for =
the background music, but of course the midi format doesn't work in =
flash.

I tried using Wavmaker to convert it to wav but it gives me an error =
message about 0.prg. I tried downloading mellosoftron and the other =
utilities from polyhedric.com, but not being a composer I can't figure =
it out.

If anyone can help me with this or suggest some resources for wav music =
(midi-style-no vocals) I would really appreciate it.

Thanks...Mary Woods

Hiya Marc,

I think max framerate for Flash animations is 30 fps reguardless of what you
can
set it at.
Could someone correct me on this?

Hello Flashers,

Is there anyway to implement text fields in flash for e-forms etc.
without having to use Director Shockwave???
Is this something that can be developed with the integration of
Generator??
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Hi Linque,

Are you referring to borders inside the browser. That's what I am =
getting in my Netscape 4.5 browser when I look at my aftershocked file. =
They are on the bottom and right sides.

Thanks=20

Thanks for the replies and bummed to know about this funky bug.

After doing everything I know to my mac (norton, disintectant, zap pram,
rebuild desketop, reinstall flash etc etc) I at least got it to the
point where the crashes doesnt corrupt the working file anymore. The
crashes are still a real headache and find myself holding my breath when
I edit actions.

Fake it by matching movie background to HTML background color. This works
well in 8- and 24-bit color. In 16-bit you won't get an exact match in
every case. Black and white always match up well, however.

This will make your content appear to float on the page, however it will
not allow underlying graphics (including a background tile) to show through.

You cannot compress before importing into Flash. Flash does not import
compressed files. It imports uncompressed wav's on a PC and uncompressed
aiff's on a Mac. Anyone have a different experience?

Subject: FLASH: Re: FLASH .wav files-not all equal?

Stick to PCM. PCM means "pulse coded modulation" and is the basic
format for digitized audio. ADPCM is "adaptive differential PCM" and is
a format for compressing PCM. MPEG-3 is another method for compressing
PCM. And Flash doesn't contain any algorithms for uncompressing
compressed audio, so always use straight PCM.

Also, I get the feeling from some recent letters on the list that there
is some confusion between reducing audio sampling rates and compression.=20
Audio compression takes place when you apply a compression algorithm to a
file, such as ADPCM, MPEG-3, Shockwave audio, etc. The file is made
smaller, and then needs to be processed by a decompression algorithm to
be played. On the other hand, you can reduce file size by reducing the
sampling rate and bit depth of the audio file (making it 22 or 11kHZ
rather than 44kHz, or 8 bit rather than 16 bit). This is not
compression, and thus doesn't need a decompressor for playback. This is
decreasing the amount of information, and thus the quality, by reducing
the amount of data points and the number of bits is each data point. The
parallel to this in the graphics world is reducing the number of dots or
pixels per inch in an image, and reducing the number of bits used to
represent each point in the image. Making a 24 bit bitmap into an 8 bit
file makes it smaller by reducing it's overall resolution, but making it
a JPEG makes it smaller by compressing it. See what I mean?

Some loaded, some did not..telling me the format was not recognized. On
the site, i'm informed that the sound files include the following
variants of .wav.. PCM, Microsoft ADPCM, ACM, and MPEG-3. Does
anyone know (1) How to determine which format each file is and (2) whic
format it is that "works" or imports and which does not??

Hi all,

thought you might be interested in checking out the new
disney.com....completely redesigned in Flash. Perhaps the highest profile
use of Flash to date (according to the Industry Standard, they have over 1M
unique visitors per day). It is very nicey done, and if Disney feels
comfortable using Flash as a core technology for their main consumer site,
it should become easier and eaiser to convince companies/publishers to use
it.

You're completely correct, based upon what I've seen with my sound
importing...but...

Well, although it's not technically "compressing" a file, I do "reduce" the
file
to 8bit sound and mono. I mean, it's the internet, you really don't need
surround sound on it; that's only for the gamers, for the most part (not
trying
to offend anyone).

Unless I'm sampling something cool (legally, you've got 7 seconds, I
believe)
and then I'll sacrifice sound file size a bit for stereo.

My .02.

Hi Guys,

Here's another contender. NetAnimator.

It produces java-based webpage animations.

There's a demo page at:

http://www.proactive-intl.com/vendor/medialinks/animations/

So what do you think?

BTW, there's a contest on about producing NA animations, with prizes.

Oh, Mac guys, forget it, NA's editor is a Wdows only tool for now. How do
you like them apples? :)

On the plus side: this could be a card up your sleeve when you have a
client who's skiddish about P-I's.

So pls, go look at this and forward your comments to me so that I can
present them to the company.

While you're at it, I want to remind you that this company should not be
judged on this product alone, which they did not create - only represent in
the US. These are the "SuperCard guys". They created Flamethrower, which
is the best server CGI creating tool ever designed. The *only* one that
creative types can make use of. Check it out. With Flame, you don't have
to know jack about how servers work - you just write server apps in a plain
english-based syntax - no geekspeak at all. If you need to do data bases
and intelligent web pages, FlameThrower is the best choice in the world -
by faaar. Want to be a server app guru? Then get FlameThrower.

Lemme know what you think of NetAnimator.
