Ben,

This is very OT, but here are my thoughts.

You are right on all counts. Give him the arguments that frames ruin search
engine rankings, make bookmarking difficult, decreases usable screen
real-estate, look tacky, and are very annoying to most people these days.
There are a few exceptions where they are appropriate, but this is not one
of them. If those arguments are not sufficient, use the argument that you
made the site for him for free, think that it is better this way, and he can
f*** off if he doesn't like it! ; )

A couple suggestions though: set your topmargin to 0; align the diver to the
top, and reduce the white space between the diver and the left menu.
