Subject: FLASH: Position detection still not quick enough. Java Script out there?
From: Shaun Brazier

Cheers Paul but no joy

I have implemented the roll-out action to a button covering the whole movie.
It works a bit better but I still have a problem.

I think I forgot to mention that the movie is in a page that is in a frame
that is only the height of the movie. So basically rolling out of the movie
means that you are rolling out of the page.

I like the idea of F5s mouse x & y pos but don't want to completely kill off
viewers by limiting to F5 players.

Is there a Java Script that can detect the position of the mouse on the
screen and compare it with the screen co-ordinates of the frame containing
the SWF and then trigger an action in the SWF as a result of moving the
mouse outside of those frame co-ordinates??

I will post this question as a fresh string

TIA if you know of any such script.

Hi Shaun,

I don't think bumping up the frame rate makes any difference with this as
the Flash player can only execute code at a certain rate (correct me if I'm
wrong MM!). Another safety net would be to put an invisible button over the
movie and spilling some way off the stage, with a big hole in the middle to
reveal the active area. You could then add appropriate roll over and
stop/roll out and play actions to this button.
