The Flash 5 application itself seems to demand a lot more memory than Flash
4 used to. Also, it seems that the application's preset memory requirements
are way too low.

I have 96 MB of physical RAM on my machine. What I have done to make things
work smoothly is turn on Virtual Memory and allocated 64,000 KB of RAM to
the Flash 5 application. With these settings things seem to work very well
(although I hate having Virtual Memory on)

I am also running OS 9.04 on a biege G3 266 MHz and have had NO problems
with it, FWIW.

Also, working with audio is a potential hassle in Flash on the Mac because
for some reason, Flash has to hold the WHOLE audio file in RAM while you are
working. With files of any significant size and quality this can be quite a
hassle. Flash 5 now allows you to import MP3 encoded files so that may help
(unless Flash decompresses it into RAM right away - then you're back where
you've started).
