My opinion about Japan is that it hasn't warmed up to the Internet like it
has over here in the US. Maybe in the next couple of years. So I have to
think that not many people use flash or looked at sites using flash compared
to the US. The access rates are way too expensive to indulge in a site using
flash.

As for real world stats, Mcdonald's Japan made their site using Flash. My
wife who is Japanese was impressed and spent several minutes with the Flash
animation on the Mcdonald website and told several of her freinds. She
called her sister in Japan and her sister said that she has already seen the
site and that just about everyone is visiting that site because of the flash
animation.

My advice is that don't take your consultant too seriously. I can give you a
prospectus on the Internet scene in Japan as well as she could. Its just too
hard to tell whether Flash has taken hold in Japan or not. Of course people
love flash and they really think its cute. But right now the Internet is
something that only the rich can afford so it hasn't really taken hold yet.
It will eventually though and when it does I believe it will be more popular
than it is in the US.
