Subject: FLASH: MSIE-flash target problem in framesets
From: Benjamin Kaubisch
Date: Thu, 30 Nov 2000 20:49:48 GMT

We've been unable to resolve a very frustrating problem with MS Internet Explorer, which does not target the correct frame in a frameset when getURL is executed from a .swf file intended for site-navigation. Instead of targeting the proper frame, it defaults to _self or sometimes targets _blank (new browser window) with the desired html doc.

Macromedia Tech Note ID: 12791 recognizes this problem, but offers no solution, other than recommending the most basic of trouble-shooting advice, like checking spelling of urls, etc..

We feel we've tried everything under the sun, including modifying frameset structure, changing the name of frames to be targeted, exporting the .swf from Fl-5 instead of 4, etc..

Has anyone experienced this problem and discovered a fix or work-around? We'd be delighted to hear about it! Thanks v. much!

Ben K.
