If the object is a movie clip, and the animation including its
motion path is also a movie clip, you can get the x and y
position of the object by targeting the object MC within the
motion MC.

It would be something like
GetProperty(/motion_mc/object_mc/,_x)
or whatever its Flash 5 equivalent is...
