FLASH: goto scene

[DRMRLPLS]

I have this problem all the time.  I want to tell the main timeline to play a 

certain scene from a button inside a movie clip.  If I tell it to go to and 

play (scene8, 1)  it gives me a sytax error.  If I tell target (_level0) to 

goto and play (scene8,1) it gives me a syntax error.  How can I circumvent 

this please?
