There is an option in preferences to revert to F4 style timelines. Edit -->
Preferences then select both Flash 4 Selection Style and Flash 4 Frame

Dear Macromedia people in the list:

Any chance of a patch to disable that darn annoying hand in the time line?
maybe something to put it back to "true" flash 4 timeline? that hand is
bulky and annoying, and often doesn't grab the right frame. one more
thought, when you make this patch would you allow for switching the arrows I
am much happier with "A" making the arrow that has been the flash arrow for
4 versions, you can always put the other arrow on "V" or at least give us a
choice?
