I must confess to feeling somewhat nervous about cultural generalisations
around
skill sets.

Last time we Europeans believed that other races were better suited to
certain
kinds of work we ended up in all kinds of mess. (Admittedly I'm thinking
sugar
plantations and cotton picking rather than site building here).

You could make a reasonable argument that parts of Western Europe were more
'Advanced' in marketing terms.

You could equally well argue that we were better at the science of forcing a
bored, over-fed, over-privileged populace to consume expensive shit that
they
don't need.

I already hear far too many glib web business people talking about setting
up
'Mouse Farms' in cheaper countries. It was sick when Nike did it but it
makes me
sad to think that we might be stooping to the same thing in our industry.

Is there anything we can do to prevent this from becoming exploitative?

Tim
