Well, I'm afraid you would need to have a site in mind in order to get any

idea.


Are there half a million people interested in the topic for a start?

EG. If your site sold petrol coupons entitling the visitor to buy unlimited

supplies of petrol at half price I guess your marketing budget would be

about

27p for a First Class stamp to write to one newspaper.  If, on the other

hand, your site provided a guide to early Egyptian paper making,. it seems

to

me unlikely that half a million visitors a decade would be achievable no

matter how much you spent.


OK, so crappy concepts like C4's Big Brother and that Turkish bloke's site

attracted millions of visitors for no sensible reason so some people will

visit any old crap but it's all related to visitor interest in the topic or

content.


So stick in some Egyptian porn or an ancient recipe for viagra and they'll

flock there for virtually no cost.


If, however, you are setting up in competition to Lastminute or Amazon then

you'll need both very deep pockets and a gimmick.
