Picked up this thread late and havent read all the preceding so if
covering old ground, apologies...

Heard the other day that the average Freeserve user makes 3 tel support
calls totalling nearly 80 minutes - that's £80 as opposed to
£whatever a month over the year. Anyone heard anything similar or can
verify/reject this figure?

Also heard there's another completely free service (backed by a major
telco) due to launch in Jan with free tel support, so using an entirely
different commercial model. Again anyone heard anything, especially as
to what that model is if not charging for the connection or the tel
support? And their (apparently huge) dm and tv campaigns kick off later
in the month.

Final point, has anyone experienced a duff Freeserve installation which
rips out the whole tcp stack from the pc. Luckily, like most on the
list, I know enough to fix it but can imagine <pc> Joe/Joanne Public
</pc> racking up those £1 minutes pretty quickly.
