Cross-sell - you have a customer who buys your Product/Service X, but you
also sell him your Product/Service Y (could be from a different product
portfolio or range entirely)
Up-sell - when your customer would usually buy a product/service at a
(relatively) low level, and you sell him up the range to a more feature-rich
or more expensive product/service.

and up-sell? i always see them paired together and am buggered if i can
figure it out.
