The GSM initiative in Finland sounds interesting as does the e-charge system  in the US.  For further info, see www.e-charge.com or my cut and paste  below.

Interestingly, Microsoft must like this option as it can be installed in the  Microsoft wallet.

Must be a good one for the BT business model!
