Absolutely.

To paraphrase Nielsen:

business = hits x conversion

Conversion is a lot easier to increase - refining usability,
listening to the customer, treating the customer as an individual,
and not treating them as stupid, can easily double or treble the
conversion rate. Getting the technology really working to the user's
advantage is also a requirement.

To quote from someone's sig I saw today:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from a rigged demo."
