Off topic, but I thought people should know about this one........

Camera Spotter Service to launch.
Project Eagle is the latest legal way to beat the police speedtraps using
all the latest mobile and Internet technology. The company which is staying
underground at present will be launching a service which alerts drivers who
may need to slow down, because of speed traps, or for other hazards, such as
schools or care homes. Project Eagle will use sophisticated location based
technology, to determine where their subscribers are relative to speed
cameras and alert them through Instant Messaging type technology, when they
are approaching a hazard.

The service which is optimally introduced when customers adopt GPRS
handsets, which have the advantage of being always on and able to accept
alerts will generate revenue in two ways: subscription revenue from
customers and sponsorship revenue from companies wishing to address the
large motoring community. They believe that it will act as an add on to
services which will help locate the nearest services and help optimise
drivers' routes.

Marketing is likely to be via Lads Magazines, such as Loaded or FHM and
placements on Granada's Men and Motors Channel, with an expectation from the
company that viral marketing will increase its user base significantly.

When asked if they believed the company would encourage dangerous driving, a
spokesman said that they "believe that it is a service which will make
drivers more conscious of their speed, particularly in areas of high danger,
such as schools and hospitals". Pre-launch registration and further
information is available by emailing projecteagleatexcite [dot] co [dot] uk
