Unless I am very much mistaken, Netscape are planning something very

similar to Real Names in the version 5 browser. Are people going to

commit money in the interim period whilst competing systems are in

place? Or is the fear that your competitors might filch your name

greater?


IMHO: we need to take a look at the bigger picture - beyond XML and

Real Names there are fundamental questions about the future of the

Net. How long is it before the bubble bursts - can the Web continue to

grow at this gargantuan rate with this relatively ramshackle

technology we're using? You can ignore this issue, Y2K style - at your

peril!
