I'm with you on that Nick,

I'd prefere income tax used as a primary source of taxing (getting rid of
council tax) and then tax items deamed as luxury items - although this is
subjective.

As for encouraging people to get online - cheap DSL, Cable modem and
Wireless services have got to be the way to achive this. BT has been far to
slow to roll out ADSL and looks like they're going to price it out of the
reach of many peoples pockets. Once you've had ADSL you no longer worry
about spending hours wondering around the virtual shops online.

Currently if I buy something online it costs me extra (when I'm at home that
is).
