Subject: UKNM: .co.uk vs .com

The main problem these days is that the full set is not available, and
you
have to compromise with promoting non .com domains as your preferred domain
has already gone. Hence things like .uk.com are now being pushed by people.

Up to 1 month ago I would have agreed with the comments in your letter.
However there has been a very significant change to the registering of Top
level domains , which seems to have gone largely unnoticed. A short while
ago the characters allowed in URL`s was increased from 26 to 67 (to include
.com ). This presents some wonderful new opportunities in this field.
Finding a short, trendy, catchy name is almost impossible, but with 67
permitted characters the possibilities are endless.
Previously, the percieved wisdom was, short name ,then prominant mission
statement including as many keywords as possible, to ensure good search
engine placement. Now you can use keywords in your URL and I strongly advise
you to do so.
Let`s see what cybersquatters make of this.
