Unless the brand company in question has a single branded product that
is called the same as their company name, and that the company doesn't
have domains registered in certain eu countries (e.g. Sweden), you will
have to use the latter route.

Restrictions on registering domains in places such as Spain, Portugal,
France, Sweden etc make is all but impossible to use the Country Code
Top Level Domains (.uk .fr etc) with brand names. You will find however
that there are ways round some of these, for example in Sweden the .nu
ccTLD is considered acceptable (even though it is a small island in the
South Pacific), so good local knowledge may help.
