As far as I remember - no
It was a husband and wife team (American - i think) who had been in the US
and decided to do a Starbucks in the UK. They came back, raised the cash,
built the brand / proposition with 55, or so, shops. Devoted three years of
their lives to doing it. Were about to float Seattle in London, but opted
for the private sale instead.
After setting it up, this was probbably the wisest thing they've ever done!
A fat share of £55m, their lives back, and no downturn on the Stock market
to worry about - looks pretty smart now!
