One of my clients www.gisajob.com started the company 2 years ago, NO VC, no
investment at all - now employs 4 full time staff and a couple of part
timers and just paid cash for a £30,000 Lotus Exige.

I'd call that fairly healthy.

(mind you, as he also happens to be me bloke, i'm not complaining)

(disclaimer - he was my client before he was my bloke)

In the US, there's a book called 'Striking it Rich.com' which
details a lot of rags to riches no-VC funded dot com projects.
