That's right. Flash's emphasis is on fast vector graphics, with small
player size.
Fortunately, you can embed Flash movies in a Director movie, and can then
use SWA and its MP3-style compression, or QT3 and its QSound compression,
or IMA compression, or whatever. You also get editable text, interactive
animations, streaming control and all the rest.
Tip: When using Flash movies in Director, don't use Flash sounds. They
won't mix with other sounds on Windows. Instead, have a Flash button send a
message to the Director movie, requesting that Director play the
buttonclick sound. This lets you use higher-fidelity audio with greater
compression, as well as mix it with other sounds in the piece.
