It's because IE4 for Mac is a stupid browser. (Well, actually it has
some nice features). Vy stupid I mean that it is brain dead and doesn't
know via scripting what it's capabilities are in terms of plugins.
Unfortunately, most detection schemes ignore this special case.
I'm afraid you'll have to "Take it up with Microsoft" :-(
