You are right, it isn't very clear. I can fix that and since you already
wrote the explanation . . . may I parphrase that in the tute?

I also have a spread sheet solution for managing multiple variables for
those less inclined to dive into the dynamics of 'real data bases' like I
was when I 'had' to get a certain project done but still have some what of a
way for the client to update the site . . . I may even get that posted too
sometime next week.

This is definately a less than perfect way of doing something like this, but
if you need to get something done in a pinch, it is a viable solution.

I think you should expand the paragraph
that talks about encoding though to explain why you do that.
