The stuff that is linear must iterate and alter a symbol instance in a small
sequence of looping frames, like duplicating a Movie clip and adjusting its
rotation and colours with action script.

The more interactive pieces could use the location of the mouse as a dynamic
variable which alter the properties of symbol instances as the user moves
across the screen, the elegance and timing of the changes is the impressive
thing, check out the April 4th for example.

www.flashkit.com has resources for things like sliding menus, I found it a
good place to start thinking about dynamic things.

cheers
