"The Humane Interface" by Jef Raskin is an interesting polemic on user

interfaces. And in it he outlines a design for what could potentially be the

perfect interface.


One thing he argues for above all else is that everything works the same in

every piece of software. Like, picking an example at random out of the

blue... tabbed palettes, shall we say?

I love when I hit the command-spacebar to zoom and i get a long string of

beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep.... Hmmm. Can't we all just get along? I know what

I'm gonna do. I'm gonna design the perfect interface and then license it for

a buck to everyone and then everyone can use the same thing and not have to

sue anyone and everything will work the same, no conflicts, no flame

wars.... yeah, and then I'll eradicate  disease - yeah - and make the poor

rich and ugly pretty - yeah, that's the ticket.
