FLASH: alpha = -100?

Under  Modify Instance > Color Effect > Special, you can set your Alpha

anywhere from 100 > -100. My question: What's the use of an alpha of

less than 0? wouldn't anything between 0 and -100 be the same? or is

there some hidden use that I'm not aware of?
