It works on ports over 1024.
You can pick the port that you want to use, so it would be up to you to
write the server so it works on a port that your firewall allows. As for
security otherwise, an SWF inside of a web page can only connect to a socket
on a computer in the same domain as the one that hosts the SWF.

Yep, you need to have an XML server set up and working though. I don't
believe that F5 ships with one, so you need to write your own.
